HH Not looking for a row mate but what would you expect a five year old car be worth? Your F Pace is standing at roughly 40% of it's new cost, meaning it has depreciated by 12% a year Since you bought it there has been a new F Pace and it's long term reliability has proven weak against competitor vehicles Not sure where the rub is to be frank

Violator - try chopping it in for something else and they'll still try to take ££££ out of you.
I brought a new F-PACE 5 years ago - think it was £58K. Current value is around £22K - done 18,000 miles (makes me sick) ... anyways...
Wanted to get something a little smaller. Looked at 3 year old Q3s and GLAs with more miles and lower specifications - both Audi and Merc wanted another £10 grand off me to do the trade. Basically paying for their nice shiny showrooms.

I never bought into the electric car thing - the Betamax of automotive has been my mantra
Heard an interesting couple of facts last weekend 1 in 6 owners have replaced them with 'proper' cars and by the same ratio; 1 in 6 of the public rapid charge terminals are not working Oh and the cost per mile on a 200 mile run, a typical charge range, around 7x more expensive

I looked for the same specc, age and current mileage of our motor that we got 3 years ago and they are going for around 3 grand more than what we paid

WG Out of interest, the Car Wow valuation, is that to buy or sell? And a tip with WBAC, enter the details and get your price, then leave it, within a couple of days they always come back with a better price Oh and another point to consider, you have not exactly chosen the best time to sell your car. A new registration has just come out, meaning to the casual buyer your car is 'older' and there will be a higher number of used cars in the market, taken in as part ex's for the new reg' sales

Wanstead I just replied by whomail with all the details. I’d really appreciate it if we can reach an amicable deal.

Same as McAvennie I used Motorway and it was excellent. Got a string price, easy to deal with etc.
I was 16 months into a 4 year lease recently but get a generous salary sacrifice car allowance at a new job - phoned car lease finders up to see how much it would be to send the car back (usually 50% of the remaining payments) but they just took the car back with no penalty.
Shows how strong second hand prices and shortage of cars are driving that.

Two of my boys used to buy and sell cars they are into Solar Panels now, but the times we did use WBAC we found them ok to deal with. If you have leased a car and your time is up, buy it, prices have been that good with shortage of new cars, we know a lot of people who bought the car at the end of the term and sold it on at a decent profit

Yea my pal says it’s the shortage of new cars that is keeping the prices high . He’s based in Bristol. Says in some cases they are selling used cars for more than they paid for them new . No wonder they made more than a billion profit last year!

What car are you after? Try another dealer.
Another option is to spend £100 or so on a really good valet. To pharphrase Mike Brewer ‘Polish in profit’

It’s been such a rollercoaster two years to be honest! Prices started to come off a bit at the end of last year but then this year have been on the rise again.
The lack of supply on new cars has filtered down to us. I thought with cost of living and everything going on the market would slow down but it hasn’t at all. The demand has still been there! A lot of ULEZ customers through the door in the last month too.
Where abouts is your mate based?

I used Motorway. Really good. They give you an estimate, it then goes into an auction, if it makes the valuation it’s sold, if it doesn’t they call you and ask if you want to sell. If it goes for more you get the extra

I brought a brand new MG, I was blinded by the price but it was basically crap so after 6 months took it to WBAC as the valuation was a couple of hundred below what I paid. Had absolutely nothing wrong with it, so they paid out the original valuation without any fuss. It was at the time when second hand valuations were very good which helped. If their offer turns out not to be so good, you can always walk away knowing you've already got an £8k offer.

As you say they have you over a barrel as soon as the deal is about to be done. Had similar with a car and WBAC. Got to the final bit of paperwork and they then miraculously found a scratch on the bumper (hardly visible) and a small scratch on an alloy trim. Wanted to knock me down £1k. Told them to fuck themselves
